In 2015, The Housing Authority of Kansas City received a $30 million federal Choice Neighborhoods grant issued by Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to revitalize neighborhoods in the Historic Northeast, making the Paseo Gateway transformation a reality. The Paseo Gateway Transformation Plan covers almost one square mile and includes approximately 4,800 residents. Three neighborhoods are included in the area; Paseo West, Independence Plaza, and Pendleton Heights.
4Sight Construction Group received the Notice to Proceed in December 2016 for the Pendleton Flats redevelopment project located in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood at the corner of Independence Avenue and Brooklyn. The first project in the Paseo Gateway corridor, 4Sight’s scope of work includes complete renovation of 30 apartment units in a three-building layout surrounding a professionally landscaped courtyard. The Pendleton Flats development will serve a mixed-income population, and is a complete interior/exterior gut, that will make the properties like new again. 4Sight’s Sonny Lancaster is the project manager for this project and Rafael Yepez is the superintendent.
